We are offering a very special discount on our two-day Introduction to Aromatherapy in Midwifery course to be held at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough on 20th and 21st January 2018.

This intensive course prepares you to use 16 aromatherapy oils and basic massage techniques for women during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. The course emphasises safety and sets aromatherapy in the context of using it in the NHS within the constraints of your NMC registration, national directives and international law on aromatherapy.

The course is taught by our Educational Director, Denise Tiran, the leading international authority on midwifery aromatherapy and author of Aromatherapy in Midwifery Practice (2016) and Complementary Therapies in Maternity Care, an evidence-based approach (2018). Denise has a Masters degree on the safety of aromatherapy in pregnancy, has implemented aromatherapy in the NHS, and previously ran a degree in aromatherapy at the University of Greenwich. She has taught over 2000 midwives on the safe use of aromatherapy.

B1 Introduction to aromatherapy in midwifery practice course
The course prepares you to implement aromatherapy in NHS midwifery practice or to use it in private practice

B1.1 Advanced aromatherapy in midwifery course
Build on your existing knowledge and experience of using aromatherapy in your midwifery practice
This two-day course is an add-on for midwives who have completed Expectancy's introductory aromatherapy courses. The course aims to build on your existing knowledge and experience of using aromatherapy for pregnancy and birth. We will explore some new essential oils not covered in the basic course, and learn more about the pharmacology behind aromatherapy. We will also debate the research evidence so that you are better placed to justify your use of aromatherapy within midwifery. The course is also suitable as a revision, particularly for midwives who have not gained much experience of using aromatherapy in clinical practice.

It is expected that you will be up-to-date in the theory of using aromatherapy in midwifery. The course does not include new techniques for massage; midwives wanting to learn more on the separate discipline of massage therapy should consider our specific massage courses.

Pre-requisite: you must have completed a minimum of two days aromatherapy training with Expectancy.

We can deliver many of our study days in your own maternity unit for groups of midwives wishing to introduce aromatherapy, reflexology, moxibustion for breech, natural induction of labour. Our Certificate in Midwifery Acupuncture programme can also be delivered in-house. It is usually more cost effective for us to come to you than to send several midwives to our scheduled courses in London. Courses can be delivered in the UK and overseas.

We also offer introductory study days on complementary therapies for student midwives, delivered in your own university. Please request our separate brochure.
